2008 Eddie B 4.0l 130k. I have worn or failed engine mounts. I'm going to use the floor jack under oil pan method.

Can I replace one mount at a time? Or do I have to loosen both to replace either side? Driver side mount is completely failed. When I start the car or a sudden change/ turn, the mount slaps metal to metal. It's completely toast.

Many posts for the v8 mention dropping the front diff. I'm hoping that won't be needed.

I am afraid that v6 or v8, mounting points are the same. When I pulled my engine out, and was replacing the mounts, I had to drop the front differential, and the sway bar. No big deal really, you do not have to pull the shafts or anything like that. Just loosen the bolts , lower it and you get access to that mount bolt from the bottom.

When lowering the diff could it rest on a block of wood? I only have one lift. Did the sway have to come out? Or, can I loosen it and move it. I think I'll replace the bushings while I'm at it too.
One thing I'm contemplating is replacing my starter if I'm going to be that into the bottom of the front end. My starter (not a bad battery or bad alternator - checked with voltmeter many times) is starting to skip. I would think I could get to that impossible starter bolt with the bottom end accessible. My front main seal is leaking...I guess I could make a weekend out of this one.

Thanks for your input. It helps a lot!!!
