Ever since i put a new alternator in my 02 explorer xlt I have been having some weird issues with the instrument cluster. ill be driving down the road normally and the battery indicator light "blips" at me and if i get after the gas it kicks on till i lay off. Also This started yesterday, now the whole cluster goes bananas.By bananas i mean it lights up like a Christmas tree and all the gauges peg to the maximum stop point ie.... MPH goes to 120, rev goes 7 and so on and so forth. it stays there for 1-2 sec then everything dies. it stays there for a few seconds and kicks back on like nothing ever happened. I have full control over the truck , throttle breaks and steering. This only happens when im driving normally on the freeway round 65-70ish mph. Its like it goes into a reset mode. The ignition is not loose if anyone asks, first thing i checked.

Test your battery, these vehicles are known to do strange things when faulty.
Also check all grounds and connections, it's obviously and electrical issue. GL

Just got it looked at, Its the alternator. It has a bad voltage regulator on it. I peaked 17.2 volts through my cigarette lighter. Fun, right?
