Hello all

I have a 2002 explorer with an instrumant cluster that has a mind of it's own. The indicator lights all fash rapidly and the gauges all drop to nothing. Both the tach and speedometer dont work either so basically the whole unit goes dead. What can I do to test this or should I just replace the whole unit?

Thanks
Gary

I also have a 2002, and my truck did the same thing. Mine ended up being a faulty ground inside the cluster, dealer replaced for ~500.

Be sure to check for low voltage in the battery before hand, because low battery voltage can do some really weird things.

Also I believe the cluster has to be swapped with the correct equipment, evidently the data has to be transfered from one to the other.

Thanks
That's a huge help. I will break it down and check all the connections as well as check the charging system.

Gary
