I have the following message on our 2016 Explorer: "Check Park Aid".
Anyone know what this means?

Thanks, I missed this first time around.
But "For the Rest of the Story", someone bumped the left rear bumper, which I didn't know. The area has a "sensor", which I assume has been damaged. The explorer is due for a trip to the dealer, we'll have it looked at then.

If the sensor is still in the correct spot it's probably damaged and needs replaced, if it fell down in the bumper it may still work but being it's always seeing the inside of the bumper it'll think something is wrong, if the bracket got broken it may require some rigging. The ford dealer may want to sell you a new lower bumper cover or some malarkey, in that case I'd take it to a body shop they should be able to glue it back together or get a replacement sensor frame.

Dealer tells me the Sensor, Cable and Connector were damaged. The parts are estimated at $60 with $660 in labor for a total $720 to repair.
Apparently, it's a bit of and effort to get to this area. I told them not to do the work, I'll take it to my local body / repair shop and get an estimate.

Depending on which sensor it's not easy thats true, the parts price is more than reasonable but the labor seems steep, even if you had to pull the bumper it shouldn't take more than a couple hours to pull, replace the pigtail and sensor and re-mount to the bumper and put the bumper back on. I had an inner stop working and pulled the top 1/4 of the bumper on the side of the bad sensor and swaped them out through the gap in 20-30 minutes. Pulling the bumper completely and replacing a wiring pigtail shouldn't take more than a couple hours, even at 200 / hr some shops are charging labor should be more like 400 bucks tops.
