I don't think anyone makes an aftermarket intake manifold for both the 4.0 OHV or the 4.0 SOHC. I think all of them are "custom" (as much as I hate to use the term) fabricated. Intake manifolds and plenums are a little more sensitive than exhausts (unless the engine is force induced)

You can get heads from www.supersixmotorsports.com, and they have upper and lower manifolds for the OHV. Nothing fancy though its just a stock one thats been ported and polished. Just take yours to a machine shop and have them do the same thing.

thats what i was thinking. i didnt want to make it forced induction unless i had to. i just needed some more torque and hp and i figured adding more air would help the process.

If you get your heads ported and polished and get a valve job you will be able to make more power and torque.

i can get all that done at a machine shop cant i? i mean getting ported and all. i can do the valve job myself.

yeah, thats what I was saying. You can buy their heads, but since they are just ported and polished stock ones, you are better off just taking yours to a machine shop.

cool cool. how much power increase would it give me?

depends on a lot of different things. I think the stage 2+ heads from SuperSix are good for like 50 hp and 80 trq, dyno proven. Those aren't peak gains, but I know it helps the low end torque a lot, and thats what these v6s need.

Isnt that with the 4.3 conversion?

it says under the sohc tech section i think, that its on a stock 05 mustang v6, with no tune. I know the engine, or most of it, is the same as an X. I think an explorer should get similar numbers.

good. hopefully more grunt at the top end.

what you really want is bottom end, not top. Unless you are racing. Or driving around over 4k rpm all the time for some reason.

no. its i just dont like the throttle response i like on the top end speeds. around 70ish mph. i have to shift down too much.

it has nothing to do with speed, its rpms. If you have more bottom end you won't have to down shift as often.

I think your just asking for more than what the engine has to offer. Its a V6, not a torquey V8. And at 70 mph, why would you need more? You're already above most speed limits.

I dont go speed limits. come on. lmao. And its not that it doesnt have what i want. I am a man, always putting more power to what i've got. Power is power. I will see what i can pull out of.
