Ok so i have been going back and forth for the past couple days on the intake question. Should i keep my stock hacked airbox or get a filter and MAF adapter. Is it worth the say $30 for it, gas mileage and power wise or is it just a waste of time and money? I really dont care to much about the sound mostly the MPG and i guess to added power, but i know its not really much anyways. So you guys who have done it, was your initial reaction im glad i did it, or what a waste of money?

I've got a KKM and I definately noticed a power increase, not sure on mpg as I quickly became a fan of the sound and drive harder to hear it more ;). The power increase came more on my top end though, like passing power, towing, going up hills, etc. My room mate just put the IFab filter on, but also did the 5.0 MAF, IFab tube, and modified throttle body, (thus I don't know what to attribute his gains to) also giving a noticeable difference in the power (mind you he is running an entirely stock exhaust too) and he says maybe a 2 mpg increase. So, for the $90 I through down for my KKM, I think it was worth it, I got what I expected, power and probably mpg increase if it hadn't changed my driving habits, and sound as a bonus, which you say is no matter anyway. For $30, you'd be crazy not to do a cone filter, assuming it competes with an IFab or KKM.

Yeah i have a spare throttle body to work with and try out some stuff. As far as the intake, im gunna grab a aluminum maf adapter from kragen and get a real k&N cone filter, but i cant fit any tubing cuz my oversized raditor and it wont fit. But im going to probly get to it one day. thanks for the input.

I have a 5.0L MAF housing, cone filter, and the stock air tube over the radiator, and it flows fine.

Beware of the K&N filters, I've read where the oil can be sucked onto the MAF and it'll give faulty readings.

Only if you put too much oil on. KKM's, and virtually all cone filters, are recharged pretty much the same way (if not exactly the same way) as K&N's. Just don't put too much oil on and you should be good to go.

Well i picked up an adpater and filter last night. yeah i guess it made a little difference. It feels like a little faster a part throttle now. And up top it pulls a little harder.hopefully ill see a little better mpg
