Is there any benefits/defects form using a smaller or larger Air intake tube. I have some 2 1/2 inch tube left over from my car and was wondering if the smaller size would be okay to use on my 98' explorer.

Ive used the threads to find numerous solutions before hand but can't seem to find one regarding this.

Yea, definitely do not go smaller. Go bigger, and get a better filter, or check out whole intake kits like Mac, K&N, KKM, Volant, etc. Some people even keep the stock airbox and cut a bigger breather hole in it, I plan todo that just to get a little more airflow in there before I get my cold air intake.
