Interesting red plug - FOUND

Other day on my 91 explorer I found a Round red male plug, not connected to anything, under the back of the alternator. Not the main plug connecter but next too it. Or part of the alternator. just coming out of the conduit.

The wire colors are: GREEN/ ORG. BLACK/ YELLOW BLACK/Purple Black/org

I only have the wiring diagrams for a '94 but it appears that purple leads to the A/C clutch cycling pressure switch, after the switch it turns to dark green/orange which powers the WOT A/C relay and also sends power to the ECU to show AC is engaged. After the WOT relay it turns to black/yellow which engages the AC compressor. I don't see the black orange though so I'm not sure what that is to.

I'll dig out my AC harness and compare when I get a chance. I'm going to assume you have a truck that originally had AC and was removed?

I have all the AC there. I did find the other plug end. It was under the filter box. But the clip was broken. I know when ever that was working is stopped for some reason. The shop checked the pressure and it was all good.

I checked my wiring in the Haynes book for the 91 under body wiring. The Black/org show part ground and going to a diode. After the diode Black/yellow

Makes sense. I did see the ground but in 94 it's black. Diode there as well.

So does the AC work now?

The only problem is the other day I unplugged the AC to move the wire to get to the ECT. I forgot to plug it in. Thus it found the belt. So three wires were in it and I had to figure which ones worked. Hooked the wires up and finally got the compresser to work. Held air for over a few years. All R134a. The problem now is it will cut off and on. I know it's not the relay. I can hook up a test light to it and it will stay on. (The light only) Hook the wires bad to the compressor off and on. I don't have a gauge set, just what you get on one can deal. I know right before it stopped I had it service and cleaned out. Weird
