Okay..new here..so I will do my best.....we have a 93 xlt, except for intake and exhaust, its stock. In the last couple days, the interior lights will not go out, there is not door ajar light or chimes, just the lights on. Pulled the fuse, no interior lights, no radio as well, so it needs a proper fix. Pulled the head light switch, with the fuse pulled there is power to all but 2 connections(switch is still connected to the harness), replace the fuse and the 2 that had no power now do. Looked into the Haynes and the colors of the wires dont match up to the schmatics. The 2 wires are Black/pink and light green and yellow. It to me appears that the switch is pooched..but i could be wrong...wont be the first time.......any ideas???
Thanks in advance for any help.....MikeD

Welcome to the site...
I would venture a guess to say one of your door pin switches is grounding out causing the circuit to remain open and the lights on. I would check all doors by pressing/tapping them in to see if the all move freely (normally it is the front ones that have the most problem).

tried pressing all the buttons..no diff....I thought if the buttons were not functioning properly the door ajar light would come on? Will try again, and will see if I can see if they are all connected firmly......good thing its nice outside...............MikeD

I am slightly confussed because my '93 xlt 4door US model does NOT have a door adjar indicator light. Where is this located and what does it look like? And the pins (you called them buttons) are located in the door jambs correct? The rear hatch door pin is located inside the driver's side latch mechanism (you cannot see it withoug removing the interior hatch panel).

Actually did you make sure that someone didn't rotate the headlight switch all the way ON which would keep the interior lights on?

I used to have the same problem with my rear hatch on my 95. It was the latch itself, as part of the latch is the switch. The interior lights would stay on but I would not get a door ajar light go on either. I had to replace the latch. It is one of you door latches. How did I know which one it was? I went to each door and slammed it acouple of times until I got to the rear door. I slammed it acouple of time and it went out. I opened up the other door normally and the lights would go out. I opened the rear hatch and closed it normally and the lights stayed on. Had to slam it acouple of times, hard to get it to turn off. Hope this helps.
