I have been having trouble with my to brake light. It stoped working so I pulled it apart to look at the connections to make sure everything was ok. I reassembled it and it worked ok for awhile. Yesterday I noticed it wasn't working again. I think its probably the ballast and not the bulb. Either way it seems kinda pricey. I just don't want to spend the money and be wrong. Has anyone else had this problem? BTW I have a 95 XLT 4WD.

I looked on car-part.com and got a few cheap assemblies when mine broke.
The other option is converting it to LEDs, someone did it on the board. You have to split the housing by baking it at low temperature in your oven, and placing a board with bright LEDS in there. You don't need the ballast anymore.
There is also an aftermarket bulb for around $100.
