Is 1997 front diff vacuum assist?

I am about to build a front diff for my 1996 5 speed. 4.0 OHV XLT. I am looking for a core to use so I can drive the truck while getting it together. Will a front diff out of a 1997 Limited , AWD, 4.0 sohc limited work. I have access to a parts vehicle.

best way to tell is to see if it has a "knot" on the passengers side. i dont think however in 97 they had vacuum assist front diffs however

I will compare it to my 1996. I believe it will not work.

I have a 97 and it has no disconnect.
