is 5R55E the only name for my tranny?

i have an 01 sport with an automatic tranny, but i cant find a shift kit for 5R55E trannies, is this the wrong name or is it just to new to get a kit for?

Thats your tranny. They make external electronic kits for your transmission, But I would imagine someone makes an internal kit.

Transgo makes the Junior Shift Kit (SK 44-55E) which is the same kit for the 4R44E,4R55E, and 5R55E.

Superior also makes one called the K4R/5R55E.

I'm not really sure....Glacier991 has tried both of them (for the A4LD) and can probably give you a better answer than I can about the differences and which one is better.

I have the trans go on my sploder. The last tranny shop recommended it. Its seems to be working well. Slightly firmer shifts, and no rebuilds since installed (3 prior).
