Is a 99 ford exp engine compatible with 2002 sport track?

What I need to make a 99 4.0 to fit my 2002 4.0 sport track?
I just bought the 2002 sport track because I thought that the engine I have (99#ford#explorer#4.0) would fit it, but they look different. I appreciate any help in advance! !!

if they are both SOHC motors, yes it will work...BUT you will need to change all the sensors, upper intake and drivers valve cover over from the trac to the donor motor. i cant remember if you also will have to change the exhaust manifolds. also, i cant remember what it is, but there is some type of box on the top of the motor that you will have to pull out, and put a frost plug in (or i did). i had a 98 sohc motor laying around and i had bought a 03 trac and thats what i had to change off the top of my head
