All right I got 2 Kicker L5 15" and I was running a Power A. amp. It under powers the subs a little bit. I could only listen to about to 2 songs with heavy bass before it would shut off but once the amp cooled down I could turn it back on. Now the thing is hardly putting out any power and the subs are trying to push but it just cant. You can hear them hmmm a little bit. The amp powers on fine but it smells like its burnt. I think I just need a new amp. THe funny thing is though I had hte amp on and turned it off before it shut off. Now it won't even turn on. Any help would be greatful. Thanks.

Sounds to me like it could be various reasons.

-overdriven amp (clipped to hell), this will cause any amp to fail...its only a matter of time.

-low voltage/current problems.

-incorrect load on the amp.

It could be one or more of these reasons...Did you know notice that when the amp would shut off its because of the PROTECTION CIRCUITRY?? It means something is wrong and the amp is trying to protect itself...keep pushing it and its going to break.

When it shuts off it would just turn off and not go into protect mode. The voltage on the wire was from 11.5 - 13.0 I am not sure of the amps because I didn't measure that. I am thinking the amp burned up.

Well I hooked it up to a friends wires and it does the smae thing so we took it apart and its cooked. What is a good amp to run 2 L5's. I dont want t5o run them at the max because I enjoy my hearing. I am not sure what amp to get. I was looking at the HiFonics Brutus amps but I am not sure what one to get. Anyhelp would be great.

depends on the impedance of the coils and your price range

how big is your fuse and how many watts rms is that amp putting out
