I just read an article on edmunds where they were ripping it to shreds.. is it really that complicated? I'm a Systems Engineer so I don't worry bout me, but my wife doesn't like overly complicated stuff, but loves her iPhone...
I'm a tech geek, been in IT 18 years...messed with phones and computers for many years.
MFT seemed easy to me. I think the average person can get the basics within an hour of playing. They won't get deep in that time, but operationally I think anyone who can use a smartphone as more than a phone should be fine.
Its not that complicated and works pretty good if your patient with it. The only time I've seen it freeze is when you press thru the menu's too fast and it gets hung. It is Microsoft after all. Too bad this thing wasn't built on some kind of embedded linux...that would've been so much better!!!
Hi tgenius, it's not rocket science. But, it's not an iPhone either. Once you get the hang of it, it's really easy and straight forward to use. The really great thing about it is that almost anything (if not everything) can be done via voice-command, which is a snap to use!
A great example: to use the navigation for going to an address, just say "destination street address," MFT will then prompt you to say the full address AT ONCE! So, you go "123 Elm Street in Detroit, Michigan" and you're done! Off you go...
Your wife will have no problem using MFT and you're totally gonna love it!
Consumer Reports bashed it as being highly difficult to use and confusing....I think they're on crack!! Is it new and different? Yes, but it's pretty easy to use. If you're smarter than a slightly trained monkey, you should find it fairly simple.
Its like any new electronic....it takes a bit to learn. ###### the critics. I thnk everyone is jelous thats it only in a Ford so they gota **** talk it. I havent used it yet but my GF has it in her new Edge and loves it to death.
I'm sure your kids know how to work the thing! My brother, sister, and I are all under the age of 18 and we know how to operate it perfectly. Made for us young people. =P My dad on the other hand... Can't even turn on the heated seats!
