Is that true?

a fine mist of water will work just as good as the FoMoCo carb cleaner, if not better. with the water, you can do it all in a few shots without driving around/repeating.

g. Road test vehicle at 3500 RPM for 2-3 miles.
That doesn't seem good, and wouldn't let them do it to mine.

Ford sucks.
Carbon build-up is happens in all engines. Always driving like a grandma and using too high octane fuel will accelerate the build up into a problem. Why put in a new engine when it will just happen again?

3500 RPM is nothing.

I liked the word Phenomenon. Like they can't figure it out. I know all about carbon. I don't know about your truck but 3,500rpms for 3 miles in my truck would have to be on the highway. I've been keeping my rpms down since I rebuilt the flimsy auto trans.

And the ford sucks line, was based towards them never owning up to their mistakes or poor designs. I e-mailed them about the auto trans and the rear door handles repeatedly breaking. They e mailed back telling me they have no record of me owning a Ford Explorer and to please not e mail them again.

Putting the selector on the '2' to keep it in 2nd gear (or 3rd if you have a 5R55E) will allow slow speeds and keep it above 3500

I used to use 2nd alot, but don't any more. I snapped the 2nd gear band, and this rebuild has to last until I can afford to get something else. I wish Ford had used a transmission that was suited to the vehicle:rolleyes: I love my truck but have to accept the fact this trans will fail again. I can't afford another rebuild.

I have noticed from reading TSB's and the Ford repair manual that they tend to imply that a lot of problems are caused by the customer.

If you follow this line of reasoning to its ultimate conclusion, the customer does cause all of the problems because they are buying and using the vehicle. If you park the truck and never drive it, you will probably reduce the number of problems significantly ;) :p
