is there a way to tell which torque conerter i have?

ok i just got my 02 4.6 4x4 running to find out its got a tapping/clicking sound coming from my torque converter area.mechanic and i are pretty sure its t.q called the price store they say it calls for 2 different ones.one is a 10.9 an other is 11 inch diameter an theres a difference in bolt pattern one has i think 4 an forgot what other had..but theres a big price differnce one is 128.00 an other is over 300 bucks this thing has been a nightmare from the start plz tell me its going to be the 128.00 t.q

You have the 8-bolt version, not the 4-bolt version.
