is there a way?

Well does any one know how to get the chime off? I really don't think it's worth fighting over.

I'm sure with just a little research, anyone should be able to find the instructions...

i wish i knew as i would tell you ...

i have no idea about the newer generations....

on my 92 all it was was a little wireing harness clip underneith the seat-belt-buckle... that stopped the chiming

on my parents '05 honda pilot it was the same deal... unclip wires that goto the buckle and no more chime...

it might be much more complicated, i havent looked in to it too much...

Here is my question, here in PA u can now ride a bike with no helmet but they are getting stricter on wearing seatbelts, now that is stupid, if u don't want to wear a helmet fine with me, your head not mine, but i should have the same choice when riding in a car, sorry for the rant been one of those days

I hear you with the seatbelt and helmet thing. I had a bike a few years ago and was so glad when they quit the stupid wear a helmet it is the law and switched to no helmet as long as you have insurance..
it should be up to the individual...

Consider this:
75% of all people that suffer major Trauma, have no health insurance, and people ***** about the rising cost of healthcare.
Our ERs are clogged with people that do not wear helmits, seatbelts etc.
Some require hundreds of thousands of dollors worth of medical care, some end up as a veggie and require millions of dollors worth of lifetime care.
Whos pays for all this (you do).
As Dave just said, if your insured, do as you please, but the insured that suffer major trauma are in the minority.
In reality, seat belts, airbags, helmits save most of us major bux.

i wasnt trying to start an arguement and i wasnt trying to bring up the point about wearing my seatbelt

i just wanted to know if anyone knew how to get the chime turned off

btw, i dont have an owners manuel

Push seat all the way forward, hook seat belt behind the front seat, push seat back to normal driving position. This does not actually disable the chime, just outsmarts it. This is what a friend of mine does in his ranger. It also makes it look like you are wearing your seatbelt if cop pulls up from behind, LOL. I don't wear mine nearly as much as I should, but its not illegal in NH, but then, we don't have helmet laws either. I mostly wear mine when in the car with the kids. I make them wear seatbelts, so I do to, at least when they are in the car. I really should wear it all the time, because I really do want to be there as they grow up.

I don't think it makes it acceptable to be killed in an accident just because your kids aren't there.
But, since the point about wearing seatbelts seems to have been made, this is how you turn the belt-minder off...
Make sure the headlamps are off, and the seatbelt is unbuckled, turn the key on and wait for the seatbelt warning indicator to prove out. Within one minute of the light turning off, buckle and unbuckle the belt 3 times, turn the headlamps on and off. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 3 times again, ending with it unbuckled... the lamp should then flash for about 3 seconds if it worked.

try just buckling it up and then sit down so its not around you just behind you. either that or cut off the buckle part and keep it plugged in all the time

Do NOT cut the belt that is in the vehicle. If a cop sees that, he/she will go ballistic!!!

Now I see how idiotic this thread is! Cut off your buckle? Keep the belt behind your seat but plugged in? Man those are both close to permanent. I think the point of this question was how to get the chime off, like for those times that you're driving a block away. Not how to make it so that you can never wear your seatbelt again!

How is buckling the belt behind the seat close to permanent? I just gave a suggestion of how a friend does it in his reanger. And EVERY time his wife gets in, she unbuckles it and rebuckles it around her, so not too permanent, nor too time consuming to re-adjust, thank you...

Puhhhhh, this is EZ take the passenger belt and put it in your holder.

but i have got one for you, in my 90 Civic if i have a passenger W/O belt there is a ding, but W/O pass., W/O belt no ding, how did the old ass car know?????

They are trying to make not wearing your seat belt a primary offense rather than a secondary offense around here. I am not sure this is great as people do have their agency. If it were made a primary offense I would be much better about keeping mine on.

My friend is a seat belt hater too. Few days ago he got pulled over for the same thing. They found one ticket over due and he spent the night in jail. LOL..

Sorry, "permanent" was a bad choice of words. What I meant to say was a pain in the ass. Well, the cutting of the buckle is still permanent, but as for the behind the seat buckling: If you ever want to use the seat belt, it's not gonna readily available. You know, like when you see the cop waiting on the side of the road, and wanna slip your seatbelt on inconspicuously? You'll either get in an accident trying to get the seatbelt from behind you (and prob'ly cost tax payers lots of money while you're in the hospital because you weren't wearing your seatbelt), or you'll get the $100 ticket (50 for not wearing it, and 50 for modifying the car). I think that the point of this thread was to disable the chime, NOT to disable your seatbelt.
