The front of the explorer feels kinda bouncy and at 215K I would think the shocks have had their use out of them lol. I want to replace them but I don't need anything fancy smancy (I guess thats how you spell that lol). Anyways I saw these and they dont seem to bad but I was wondering if anyone else has used these or could reccomend something that wont cost an arm and a leg.

Thanks

John

They seem to get good reviews around here if I recall. I went with rancho. If you order from advance online use coupon code ccabin, I believe that is good for $40 off 100.

I will have to check, but I believe I have some that are similar to that and I like mine quite a bit. But I do not do a lot of offroading, mainly highway driving and for that they have been very acceptable.

Cool thanks for the tip man!

Yeah that's all i'll be doing as it will be my DD so I can't break it. Once I fix the front driveshaft the only hard use it will see is the occasional snow storm ;).

Thanks guys!

That's the shocks that I have on front now (Sensatracs). They are fine for highway use.
For rear I did find them too "soft" for my taste so I replaced them with something else (KYB).

I bet your rears are gone too, so you might want to look into that - you have three shocks in back.

Agreed. I just put Sensa-Trac's on mine, and like them. I had both ST's and Monroe Reflex on in the past as well.

The "CCABIN" Code is indeed the $40 off $100 code. If you need other parts, put in 2 orders, and get $40 off each order, saving $80 total. Like end links or sway bar bushings, or that 5th shock, for oscillation dampening: Monroe SC2958 ...

If you only have around $150, try "VISA" and you may get $50 off that order. That code comes and goes though.

I only order thru advance if they have what Im looking for. The online deals are awesome.

I have had 4 Monroe Gas-Matic LT Shock Absorbers on my Ex for a few years now and they do fine. They are only about $25 a piece! They give a nice ride and do ok with a moderatly loaded down utility trailer.

Also keep an eye out for retailers doing free installation. When I got my Ex Sears had that going on. I let them fight the 14 year old shock bolts. Shocks were the same price as the other retailers on the area.

You have some expensive retailers. Sears has the Fronts at $70 each and $61 for the rears.

If you ordered through Advance right now, you get them all for $100. Shocks are easy.

Often times monroe and rancho have rebates as well. My mechanic installed mine for 10 bucks each. Worth every cent because the bolts were rusted beyond belief.

Four SensaTrac's for $100 is a bargain. Exact price I bought mine for on 4/09
when Sears had 50% off and Monroe had a $20 mail in rebate. Great deal, do it.

Mine wanted 400$ for all of them. Did it myself with help of a PB Blaster can.

I think a better shock is a KYB mono-tube gas shock. It is a cheaper version, but similiar to Bilstein. You can get them for $36 a piece at RockAuto.com, plus shipping.

I have also used the Sensa-Trac shock and found them fine. And if you can get $40 off the order, that seems like a heckuva deal.
