My daily driver – a 98 2WD Eddie Bauer 5.0 Explorer – is starting to ‘shudder’ when I accelerate from a stop. I don’t notice any shuttering or vibrations at speed, upshifting/downshifting – or at any point, except when I roll from a stop. It seems like it’s getting worst.
What is strange is when I accelerate hard, there is not shudder…only when I accelerate from a stop at a slow to medium rate. I first noticed this issue last month. The truck has about 80,x.. miles on it.
What do you guys think? Assuming this is coming from the tranny – what specifically could be going wrong? Torque Converter?
