is this related to spark plugs?

Hello everyone,
i will try to describe a couple of things i've notice in my explorer that started a few weeks ago, i know pretty much nothing about engines so it may sound a little dumb and if what i describe have an actual term please tell me, thanks.

2006 XLT 4.0 V6 116k miles
a lot of times when letting it slow down before a full stop, there is a noise that i can't really tell if is coming from down the engine or underneath the truck, sounds like something is rubbing slightly and it does it like 4-5 times, and is followed by a few very light very quick revs, sounds like if you were tapping the gas very very lightly 4-5 times.

i am able to recreate this in a parking lot by going from a full stop to a quick acceleration and then letting off the gas, letting the truck slow down on its own.

the next issue is sometimes while going maybe 50+ mph if i slow down and then take off, the truck seems to get a bit rough during initial acceleration then it goes just fine.

i will try to go take a ride and get more specific on speed for this last one.

i purchased this truck with 84k miles 2 years ago and im at 116k, have done only scheduled oil change and fuel filter change, i have no idea if previous owner ever changed spark plugs, some one told me it may need transmission service also?

like i said i know nothing about engines, but i would like to learn a bit about this engine and be able to do some of the maintenance myself, maybe do oil change and spark plug replacement myself, part of why i haven't had any major maintenance done is money, i've been on a very tight budget for the past year.

any input on this i will be grateful.
thanks

I don't know too much about trucks either, but the problem doesn't sound like spark plugs. More like a vaccuum leak. Although at 116K miles it definitely wouldn't hurt to take a look at one of the plugs. If it looks REALLY worn...large gap, and rounded short electrode, they are probably original. I don't know how to trace a vaccuum leak. Maybe you will get some suggestions about that.

No check engine light? Either way, find an auto parts store and scan for trouble codes free. GL

No check engine light either, i went for a ride about 6 miles and wasn't able to recreate it at this time, everything worked well, it happens at random times.

also at random times it sounds like it's turbo charged when pushing the gas pedal Lol sounds like some air release, aside from that, i haven't noticed anything else.

With that many miles, do the recommended 100K mile service items (PCV valve, transmistion fluid change, etc.). Also, I would clean the MAF sensor and the throttle body.
