I'm Planing on running a Kenwood KDC-MP822 As The head unit. For the Amp I'm Going with MTX Thunder282 For the Box MTX ThunderForms And For the Sub a MTX Thunder 6000A Woofer it's the one in the picture. But my question is Will the amp be enuff to power the sub so it will hit hard and tight? I mostly listen to Rock and Rap if that makes any diffrence in what i want. Thanks for the help

And you made two topics.. why? All I'm gonna say is that the lower-end of MTX subs isn't the greatest. You figure it out. Seems like you want all of this spoonfed to you, see your local car audio shop.

no i don't want it spoon fed to me i know what i want. I didn't mean to make to topics i tried to delete the other. But it wouldn't let me. i'm sry for the double post.

that stuff will be excellent- I've installed the 6000 series subs in two different vehicles recently and in both cases i was reasonably impressed with the amount of sound they put out for the $. As for the amp, the amp is great, all their amps are great.

I know i always am on here promoting mtx and its partly because i sell a lot of it, BUT i don't have to sell mtx stuff for any reason and i certainly don't have to use it in my vehicle or my families vehicles but i still do.

oh yeah- don't double post again

i'v heard good stuff about MTX and i'v heard one of there 12's but since i have a little truck i figued 1 10 would be enuff in a standard cab

Sounds good, I read the wrong numbers, sorry. Let us know how it works out for ya if you plan on going with this. It's always nice to hear MTX systems being made. =)

I've been a hardcore Alpine guy for a long time, but I have to say I really, really like the new Kenwood HU's. A friend installed that unit in his car, and the display on it is just fantastic.

Sounds like a fine setup bro, good luck with it, and don't forget to take pics. :D

And here I'm just double posting to say "If Expo thinks it's good, it probably is."

Ok, and maybe [ ] that much post whoring.. /innocentwhistle

I will comment on the Thunder 6000 series. I had 2 MTX 6000 12's and they hit hard. But they do not hit very low, nor are they as musical as i had hoped. If you like the higher bass 70hz+ that rattles the back bumper off, this sub is for you. If you want low, as well as musical bass Id go with the Infinity Refrence 12". Its around the same price and is really a great all around sub.

And guys, quit being so mean. Hes just asking a question and accidentally double posted. Sheesh.

I have 3 mtx 6000s 10" attached to a 740w pioneer amp... I'm very impressed by it... although it is my first system, so I dont have anything to compare it to. I plan on adding another sub and an amp in the future tho =P

Well i ordered it today. I didn't no have enuff money for a new amp so i'm borrowing my friends Sony 600watt amp for now. i'll let you know how it sound friday when it gets her and installed:D

Right on! I would wait to pass judgement on the sound, until you get you a better amp to push them with. There is a guy on ebay that sells refurb Fosgate amps for a great price. I got a Punch 160.2 for $51.00!

a 600 wat Sony Explode amp should push it fine. but i would like to buy an 1or2 channel amp

Im not saying its not a good amp, but you have to look at more than just power numbers. There are other factors that make up a good amp suah as THD(Total harmonic distortion), S/N ratio (Signal to Noise ratio, basically the ratio of amplifier switching noise to music), and slew rate(the amplifiers ability to react to sudden musical peaks). If you just want bump that rattles everything, it will work fine. But if you care about the quality of bass, you may want to look elsewhere. That 600watt Sony, is really only about 300watts RMS at 2ohms. Anytime you go lower than the amplifiers standard resistance rating (most cases 4 ohms) the amplifier starts using more current, which produces more heat. This causes the amplifier to be less efficient, produce more distortion and heat up more quickly. Heat is the #1 killer of amplifiers. And distortion(caused by amplifier clipping i.e not enough power) is the #1 killer of speakers and subwoofers. Generally subwoofers are more understanding, and can handle anything up to about 1% THD before they start sounding too much like poo. But they still dont sound as good as the could with a quality amplifier, putting out a reasonable amount of power into a 4ohm load. In other words the Sony will do fine for a while, but if you want good sound quality, and not just SPL you may want to focus on higher name brands. Hope this helps.

The Sony amp willl only be in my truck for a week or 2. until i can afford to get the MTX amp. I don't plan on running it until it blows up.:D thanks for the info
