recently when i have been running late in the morning i dont have a chance to warm up my x. a couple of times i just woke up and took off, but right when i put her in drive, and press the gas, it does not move, like its in nuetral. so i am forced to sit and warm it up. then its fine. this only began as it started to get colder outside. there is about 100,000 miles on it, and im sure its going out, but is there a chance it could be something else? something cheaper than a trany. (give me hope! im on a college student budget)

Well gawd a newb here, but start simple. When was the last time you changed your auto-trannie fluid? Could help a bit... dunno. I'm sure the experts here will be able to get this pretty much isolated... they are pretty damn smart. Don't loose hope!

what engine do you have in it? with any of the engines it could be the IAC is bad. what your experiencing is more than likely hesitation. either you need a new IAC or need your fuel system sleaned.

ive got the six, i changed the fluid this summer, i got a major tune up to drive to colorado to school from california...you think its the IAC? my check engine light just came on too, would that do it? about the fuel....do you think my fuel filter should be changed to a colorado octane one being im here more than california, and california has the higher octane law stuff? could that be it too?

There are numerous reports

Of the valve body gaskets blowing out on the 5R55E transmission. When I changed the filter on my 97 I found all of them loose. This might be the cause of the gaskets blowing out. If you just did a pan drop and fill, it wouldn't hurt to do this again to check the bolts. A pan drop only gets 35% of the old fluid out. They only tighten to about 8-9 ft-lb which isn't much. Might also check to see if the shift lever is securely in the indent position on the transmission.
