Issues with Sync and iPhone 8

I'm not exactly sure when this started - maybe 6-months ago? But, when I have a call come in, my phone will answer it, but it will answer it to the handset - my iphone. I have to toggle down and select Sync in order for it to play through my car. Very frustrating; and, frankly, dangerous as I'm messing to get that done while I am driving.

Any thoughts on why this would be happening? The phone is the same as I've had for 2 years. I've not changed anything on it.

Have you tried re-pairing the phone to see if that will get it back to 'normal'? Could it be due to recent software upgrades to the phone? Also, remember, that calls can be ignored if you are in a situation where it isn't safe to do what you have to in order to answer it, like driving.

Good idea with trying to re-pair it! Not sure about the phone software; sort of doubt it as it's been happening for months now. I just always forget to scour the net for a solution after it happens.
