I didnt do anthing except:
1) Unbolt the motor mounts
2) Jack up the front of the motor until the Intake was very close to the fire wall,(the fan is nowhere near hitting the Radiator at this point),
3) Unbolt the pan
4) On the passenger side pull the pan down as far as it will go and you can see the pump bolts.
5) Unbolt the pump
6) Contort until free from pan
7) Remove pump drive rod
When I put in the new rod I used a big gob of grease on the end to hold it in place in the motor while I installed the new oil pump
The trickey part was removing the old rubber gasket and installing the new one. I laid it all out to see how to install it, the I put it in the bottom of the pan and had to feed it around the crank and other obstacles. the biggest problem is at the rear of the pan, there is very little clearance. With some patiance it can be done, and it saved me tearing out the whole motor. I anyone needs more info on this let me know.
