I know very similar posts have been made but they all tend include rough idle in the picture. Mine is the 2001 @ 150K miles. Around the 20 F mark I go to start it and have to keep my foot on the pedal for 5 minutes at least before it will idle on it's own. It runs smooth, I don't have to rev the engine and ride out any rough sputtering. If you take your foot off it just dies. Right away. No coughing or sputtering.
Last time this happened I was short on time and had to use both feet, one on the brake so i could get it in gear with the other keeping it at idle. Even 1/2 mile down the road if I backed off the pedal to far it would just die and coast to a stop till i start it up again.
New plug, wires, filters and other generic engine cleanings have not solved it. I've not had a chance to see if it is throwing a code. I don't have a reader so I don't know if I could nurse it to an auto shop and catch a reading from it before it warmed up and started idling again.
