Advice Please
Couple of things right off. Im new here but not new to rangers, so hello. This post concerns my '02 excab 4x4 3.0l auto ranger, i got in a little accident with a tree thats gonna cost me a lot of money to fix the front end, in addition there are a number of other things mechanical and cosmetic that need to be fixed before i could sell/trade. I really want to do a sas swap on a ranger (specifically one with a 4.0 and a stand.) but my problem is that i dont like the tranny or engine in my current ranger, but on the other hand i will have upwards of $3000 or more to fix everything to be able to sell it for a reasonable price (so why spend all the money/time to fix when ur gonna get rid of it). So with the background out of the way my question(s) is how reasonable/ cost effective would it be to swap in a "better"/"bigger" engine and "better"/"stronger" transmission, (im curious to know what my options would be as far as swap candidates and ease of install). As opposed to fixing current ranger, selling, and buying a better ranger with a bigger engine/tranny. I hope you see where im going here, i know this post is gigantic any help would be greatly appreciated as the trusty search button didnt turn up any answers at least for me. Thanks, Shifty
