is it me or do I not see a lot of post from new buyers that start out the conversation with "it was for my wife"? I know in my case it really was for the wife and her pick/choice. I do feel like the SUV is designed with the female driver in mind. Others thoughts?
I think any time you go to a unibody it is harder to make a vehicle look masculine. Yes I do see a little feminine in the EX but that doesn't bother me as I think it is a fantastic looking vehicle.
I think the 2016s have solved that look and it looks more neutral now. Throw in the Sport or Platinum accents and they really look sharp for both sexes.
It's my wife's SUV. LOL. Gear heads like myself do not let their wives get minivans for the family truckster to haul the kids in, they get SUV's. I did not even want the transverse mount motor, but I made an exception for the 3.5 Ecoboost. It really was the vehicle that my wife wanted though, and she said she would never drive a minivan. Of course I helped point her in the direction of the Sport. She likes how "mean" the Magnetic Sport looks. We've only had it a few days but we both love it.

Wife picked it out. It's more CUV / Mini-van than SUV, which suits her just fine as she likes the car-like feel. It wasn't my first choice, nor would I like it as a daily driver. I tried to direct her towards the BMW or Benz. No go.

Never occurred to me at all. I did mention to a Lexus salesman a number of years ago that I thought the Lexus RX350 looked like a woman's vehicle and he agreed!

Well in our case it definitely IS for my wife. She is coming out of an Infiniti G37S Convertible and REALLY wanted the ruby red Explorer. I also had to steer her towards the Sport model with the 3.5L EGOboost because I have that in my F150 and it is a great motor! Now...would I drive one myself? YOU BET! Mine would be the black one if I were to have one. We went with the EGOboost because she was used to a vehicle that was a sports car and I wanted to slow her down a bit and give her more protection and a smoother ride. The more I drive the Explorer the more I like it!
