Pulled the pan last night,it's full of gray "sand"(metal)(just changed the fluid & cleaned pan out 1 1/2 month's ago for regular maintenance) here's my options, what would you do?
1)rebuild it myself, cost unknown, labor free(but have never rebuilt an electronic trans before, have built torqueflites for both my race cars,c-6's,aod's behind supercharged mustangs, all w/h great results)but no guarantee & down for 2 to 3 weeks minimum
2)local reputable trans shop wants $1500 for rebuild & dacco reman trq conv.labor incl. 12month,12,000 mile warranty,in on Thurs.morning out next day
3)buy Ford reman t.c.& trans $1848 my cost,labor free(me),24 month,24,000 miles warranty,down 1-1 1/2 weeks
this is my wifes daily driver, she has borrowed my dad's mustang for now.The "exploder"is a'97 model w/h 4wd & 94,116 miles on it. I'm leaning towards the trans shop but just thought I'd see what you guys thought.Scott
