Looks like a Dana 30 long standard rotation. I've got 4.10 and 4.56 both are $165.00.

Looks like... or IS. I don't want to take it apart and find out it's wrong... know what I mean?

In addition, in reading the product literature from DANA (see a previous post in this thread) it looks like the carrier is different too. So if I went from 3.55's to 3.73's or lower, I'd have to replace the carrier too! WTF?

That's typical, most (all?) Dana axles have a carrier break.

Why not poke your head under and see what it is? Reverse spiral will have the pinion above the axle centerline, standard will be below.

As far as 30/35, measure the ring gear.

Looks to me like it's a standard. Pinion seems to be on the bottem left(drivers side) But what size? Don't know. So we are half-way there for sure:D

I don't know about the carrier breaks and how accurate they are sometimes. I think the TTB D35 uses the same case no matter what.

I just can't believe it's taken you guys 7 years before you get to the point of trying to figure out what kind of gears are in these things.

I can't believe you didn't buy one after wrecking your Mounty!!! How's the performance progress? Ready to meet up and hopefully I'll bring another Ex along for fun. You may be able to take him:D

Not much on the performance front. Got my 4.10s swapped in last weekend, so it's lowered now. Have new tail lights and clear corners coming this week. So it will at least look like a street truck. I do have a tune on it now (long story there) so it's better than stock. Probably running 16.30's or something like that.

Good to hear you are making some progress. Nothing has changed for me other than a nice detail last night on the body and then it rained today:( Seems EVERY time I clean the Ex, it rains! I have some night pics that I took and I need to get them uploaded.

If we get to meet up at the drags, I will say that the Ex is getting stripped down because I want the hit 14's!!!! Otherwise, maybe next year:(

It's all talk(I'm a dreamer);)

Just bought a house and have put nearly 4 grand into paint and furnishing it, Just lost my F'in $2500 dollar hearing aid on Monday(I wear two) so I have to pay a $250 deductible to get another one and then $85 for an ear mold to be made which I just got last week. Paid another $667 for an online class last week so that I can finally get my BS degree. So I have spent A LOT of money in the last 3 weeks and that's not including bills:( Being paid $10 an hour slows me down even more:(

So if anyone wants to send me some money, PM for my PayPal account!

i'd come out to the drags with you guys i'll just have to break out the nitrous to get those 35s turning to keep up.

haha thats a bit ofa ride but i'll bring the bike then we can line up ;) but yeah lets get these gears rolling

Thread Bump....

Anyone find out anything for sure on these gears yet? I'm ready to do this... but still don't know if it's even possible.

My guess is to go to a reputable shop and ask them what it will take. They should be able to look up what style of gears are in the front as well as what options you have. It's not going to be cheap, therefore switching to forced induction may not be far off;)

Another note and don't hold you breath for this, I have an M90 supercharger that I plan on trying to adapt to my ex. The main problem is making sure it fits under the hood. After that, it should be a really simple bolt-on. It's at my dads and I plan on getting it this weekend or the next to start on this project. I figure pulley it to around 6-8lbs should provide enough lowend gain and not kill anything. If by some miracle I can pull this off and it's as simple as I have pictured in my head, I may be able to help others with some power issues:D If it works out, I'll make a thread about it. If it doesn't, then it was just another dream of mine.

Find a used front diff pull it apart and use the dana part numbers to cross the gears. If all else fails take measurements and compare them to the super 30 (jeep WJ or 99-03? Grand Cherokee) and the standard dana 30 (most jeeps 97-03)

I can't tell you what diff you have, but I have had GREAT luck dealing with www.justdifferentials.com. I bought a set of gears from them for my first gen, they were awesome guys to deal with. Give em a call. They sell from their website and on ebay. They seem to have quite a bit of knowledge.
