JB weld, and a cracked head

Ok, I have seen lots of cracked heads.
But what im wondering is...
1) Does any one think JB weld will work for a good, sold fix
I have heard about it working on most every thing. But I really dont know if the headrs get to Hot for it. (500F or more and the site says it will stop working...
Or should i just Do it my self?
Dnd If i do it my self, what all should I replace?
I know so far by fourm digging, the bolts, T-stat, gasket(s).
Its a V6, 98 ranger, 4.0.
I just had a clutch but in over the summer. But... its 360K miles on it...
and need more that just that...
any ideas...?

I don't think JB Weld will hold up worth a darn. I wouldn't even think of it. Just get a new set of heads and call it good. I am sure you would not want to do the job again or pay someone again if it fails.

While I was in there it would be a great time to change wires, plugs,T-Stat, belt and hoses and good through cleaning of the upper and lower intake too. This pretty much hit the high points, but I am sure someone else can chime in with some thing else.

I bought a cheap explorer that had a cracked head (owner had been driving it with a leaking waterpump) so I fixed the waterpump and used a similar product called quicksteel on the leak from the head. It was also drinking the coolant so I added bars radiator stop leak to it and the disappearing coolant problems ceased. I can say it worked very well for me as i've been driving for almost 2 years on it with no problems at all. Granted this was a 300 dollar car and I didn't really want to do much work to it. I would never do any rigging like this to a car I care for. But as a quick fix it worked amazingly. I should probably sell this thing while it's still holding together
