How many subs can you hook up to a jbl 1200.1 amp

it depends on what kind of subs you want.....if you get better subs then you cant have as many because they need more watts. i wouldnt recomment to do more than 2 subs on this amp, but ive seen it done

So 2 12" Audiobahn flame series should sound good hooked up to it?

Depends on the impedance of the sub and if you are hooking up in parralel or series....

the jbl 1200.1 puts out an impressive 1200w @ 2 ohms.
your subs on the other hand are a little too much for it, specs include: 280 oz. magnet, 1500w rms, and 2ohm dvc coils.

if you parralell them you should have an all around good op. for your amp, it would be pushing 1200 w and there would be no problem. but if you dont want to harm your subs, i would say get an amp that can put out atleast the rms needed for the subs.....

its not that more power is better...its just that if you want your subs to stick around you need an amp that can *push* and *pull* the coils with relative ease.

if money is tight, then hey ya gotta do what you gotta do, but if you havent bought your subs yet, think of getting some with a 1000w rms p. handling ability.

and get 2 subs....i think that was the original q.....

i thoght the jbl amp was rated at 1ohm? anyways dont get that to run those 2 12"s, you could run a jble to each but more $$$, you could get a good audiobahn amp to power those, ive seen them powered off of something as small as a 275hcq and they didn't sound bad.

1200.1 is 1 ohm stable, but probally shouldnt go that low in ohms. The 1200.1 will actually put out close to 1250Watts @ 12.5 volts and close to 1500Watts @ 14.4 volts (explorers electrical system) so each sub would get 750 watts. Not bad becasue the 12" Flame Q is rated @ 1100Watts, 800-1000Watts in a good area to run them saftly and still bump. So 50Watts short is not that bad at all, and they will also STILL BUMP.

Check out the zeb they have reviews for the 1200.1

Also make sure you use 0 gauge wiring! And build your box THICK!

The JBL 1200.1 is capable of holding a load of 1 ohm for a long period of time, but according to JBL the Amp will still only put out the 1200W at 1ohm as well as 2 ohm  I have been running this amp at 1 ohm forever and have had no problems at all

maybe i was thinking of the wrong subs.........:)

and what the heck, if the mfr. says that their amp can run at 1 ohm, then run it! ha.....it'll probably last awhile.
