While searching around, I see most old posts saying that 'no, jeep wheels dont fit since the backspacing is diffrerent and the center bore is too small.' But then a few folks said yes they fit.

If you have experience making jeep wheels fit on a second gen, could you let me know what style of wheel it was?

My local craigslist is full of oem takeoffs of jeep wheels, but hardley any explorer wheels. I just need a spare set of rims for cheap. Thanks!!!

It may depend on WHICH Jeep wheels for the bore center. For sure the bolt pattern is the same, but there is more backspacing on Jeep wheels, meaning the tires will be closer to the body...which is where bigger tires rub on a stock Explorer anyway.
There's enough Explorers, Rangers, Sport Tracs, Mazdas, Mountaineers, in junkyards that you should be able to find a set of rims.

second gens dont have hubs or anything that stick through the wheel. just make sure back spacing is less that 4.25(i think that is stock), and you should not have any issues.

good luck

i tried putting my stock 92 EB wheels on my old ladys jeep cherokee, they would not fit, same lug pattern, just the center bore on the jeep was to big (at least on the back against the drum), never tried the front

Well ther shouldnt be any problem going the other way (jeep wheels on explorer). the lugs will center the wheel.

You can (depending on which jeep they are off of) but you will need wheel spacers (1.5") to compensate for the difference in back spacing.

I put them on mine a long time ago with 31 procomp MT's and no rubbing, but they tell me that should not have been possible....

They were just the standard honeycomb wheel off like a 99 or 00 jeep.

i have some jeep cherokee wheels and tires on my 93 sport. They make weird clicking and humming noises. I do not know what the problem is but it is really loud and annoying. i am going to go buy spacer tommorow, probably half inch all around, hopefullt that will do something.
