A year ago, with the help of this forum, I diagnosed and replaced the shift solenoid. The vehicle is a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT with a 5R55W transmission. The reason for the replacement was very harsh shifting and a jerky vibration when moving. This fixed the problem and the vehicle ran fine after this was done. A year later, I am starting to feel a jerky vibration when the vehicle is in motion. This happens usually between 25 and 45 mph or I feel it when just coasting. It's like something is trying to shift or engage. The actual shifting between gears is smooth. After noticing this, I replaced the shift solenoid again. This hasn't fixed the problem. The only diagnostic code that is showing is P0401(EGR) - insufficient flow detected. Is there a possibility that this malfunction with the EGR is causing these symptoms? Is there another solenoid diode or chip that can cause this jerky vibration?

I appreciate any suggestions on what I should check next.

Bump for ya...

It could be the dpfe sensor. I know ford 3.0 and 4.0 engines go through those things like candy. It will cause that jerky sensation you are describing and 90% of the time it produces that code too!

It's hard to believe something so small could cause such a problem.I replace the dpfe sensor, [which was a piece of cake to do] and know more problem. I would never of thought of the dpfe sensor, to be honest I had never heard of this part till now. To dave151 THANK YOU!! That is what this forum is about, learning from the experience of orther
