I have 2 JL12w0s for sale :) LaXplorer was gonna buy them, but I haven't heard from him in a month, I dunno whats goin on . They hit 135.9 and hit very nicely. however, I wouldn't advise a 15, they don't have the kinda control I like, but w/e floats yre boat heh, the w0s are $160, but its negotiable.. btw, from my experience, JL is very sensetive about enclosures, and if you have it even shaped kinda weird, the sub rattles, at least thats my experience.. good luck

Darkfox, what do the 15's sound like?? have you heard them?? I am looking for pounding bass mostly, but i dont want it to sound crappy do u know what i mean?? Anyway let me know, thanks

I've heard some of the 15s in stores, as far as in cars I haven't. Even in stores the quality of freq. response is different, now not all 15s are like that, companies like IDQ and such their 15s are probabllyu as good as most companies 12s.. but in JLs case, if I remember correctly, the JL15w0 has the same sized magnet and spider and all as the 12.. so the quality would be less. The one thing that the w0 has tho.. it hits.. it pounds.. very punchy bass.. my experience with them however didn't give me very much high end bass, but some very decent low end

DarkFox, do u know the decibel level that the 15w0s hit at?? I've got a rockford fosgate 800a4 amp, so it should be pushing about 200 watts per sub, do you think with this setup it will hit HARD or do u think that the 2 12w0s would be just about as loud with more clarity?? Cuz i want it to slam, so people can hear me coming from a distance, but i dont want it to be so that it is unclear and the sound quality is bad. Please let me know anything u know :) thanks

I have 2 12 w0's and they hit very hard and clean..i have a 500watt amp going to them i think 125w to each. These are definitely heard down the street, but if you got 15's those would rattle not only your car but houses :D.
I'm satisfied with the 12's cause now my ears are starting to hurt man. Just giving you an opinion on my 12's. As far as rattling in the box..I don't know what fox is talking about, i have the jl powerwedge box.

ya, I would imagine the JL box would work best with them, since they are so sensetive like that, I have a box with like 2.1cu ft per chamber that I'm selling that fits well to well in the hatch if anyone is interested ;) heh, grey carpet 2 12s wedge style.. all that good stuff hehe...

my 12w0s hit 135.9 legal and about 138.2 outlaw, nothin great, but its decent. I would imagine the 15s may give you as far as 137 or so legal, no guarantees tho. The problem we have as suvs tho is what ID92 said.. it rattles the car a ton, but you won' tbe rattling many other windows.. I've been told its cos our interior is too large or something.. tell ya what tho.. you can make people mad at red lights with just 1 12 heh, so people would know you're coming ;)

i have some pics of my 12 w 6's the w6 are alot better but they look the same from the outside if you want to look at them. JL definitly makes a good SUB

I have to disagree with darkfox. JL subs was are not enclusure sensitive at all. They will work in very large range of volumes. they also work well in sealed, ported, and bandpass applications.

Typically, you will want to put woofer in a smaller than recomended enclosure if it is going into an explorer. because of the vehicle transfer function for an explorer, the lower frequencies are naturally boosted more than the upper bass frequencies; therfore you would want to build your box on the smaller side to take give you a better overall response.

would a pair of 12w3's hit harder and cleaner than 2 15w0's?? let me know, thanks

personally, I like the sound of multpile smaller woofers ( 8s or 10s), but I think that 12s give you the best overall compromise between SPL and SQ.
recently, I did a system that had 2 12W3s in a custom ported box I built for a jeep grand cherokee. the 12w3s were powered by the new JL Audio 500/1 d-class sub amp. the output was incredible, and they sounded very clean. It wasn't muddy at all.

there are usually great deals on 12W3s on ebay. sometimes, you can find the 500/1 JL amp. on there too.
