bump...

bump.... anyone?

I always heard that JL subs were real good subs, just not worth the money they charge for them. So with this in mind, I would definately keep them if you can use them, if not, sell em. But you must have gotten a good deal on them. How much?

well im not sure the retail value of them but i heard they were good subs. i got 2 of them for around $130

amp recommendations..

can anybody recommend a good amp to power both of these subs? i heard rockford fosgate has some good ones... anybody?

Xtant, fosgate is good too...the sony xplods are getting better every too. JL also makes amps....This is an area where you definetly get what you pay for ...A good equation to use whne dealing with amps is $1 per watt...so if you want a kick ass amp spend the money. But beware of the bargains...yes they will move the subs, but the quality and durability will be suspect.

so if each sub is rated at 250watts, then i'll need like a 500watt amp, right?

also am i gonna need a 2ch amp or what? what is the difference anyways...

bump..

it depends on the RMS, if the RMS is 250 then yes get a 500 watt amp or larger. On JLs it is usally safe to run to about 3/4 of the max of their subs. What is the max of the subs?

As far as the 2 channel amp, yes you need a 2 channel. the difference between a 2 channel and a 4 channel is tht a 4 channel lets you have the option to run a few more subs or your midranges, or subs and midranges. its basically so you dont have to buy another amp if you want to run everything. For your application i would tell you to get a 2 channel RF or JL 500.1 or higher. As far as Xplod amps, i have had a 1000watt 2 channel for over 2 years and its running just like brand new.

EDIT- make sure whatever amp you buy has a FULL CROSSOVER, if the amp doesnt all your doing is killing your subwoofer because its letting voices out of the speaker..

im not sure what the max is.... it says on the sheet i got with the subs that the continous rms is 250..... check out the specs here....JL Audio 12w5-D8
