2001 sport Trac
Hi guys,,,been reading a lot of posts here in the Philippines, I got me a 2001 sport trac 6cyl can a member explain what a " job 1 is, and if it applies to my ride, the truck was built mid 2001 ?? and how do I find this out on the vehicle, and an unusual problem......the spare wheel (steel type) touches the front caliper when fitting it, however the alloy type sits there fine, possibly a different Ford wheel,,,same stud pattern,,,16 inch,, not too sure, cos vehicle was in used condition upon purchase

On a Job 1 motor the oil filler neck is on the driver side. The spare 16" steel wheel should touch the caliper.

Thanks Midnight,,,,I guess its not a Job 1 (filler is on Pass side),,is there any disadvantage in having a job 1 model, thanks about the spare, cant understand why? but there ya go huh..........regards

Better design and improvements on the Job 2 motor as far as timing chain tensioners and intake.

Fuel delivery

HI guys,, I was experiancing hard start prob's (2001 spottrac v6) I tried everything, plugs, filters, and sensors etc. What the trouble seemed to be was the pump in the tank was allowing back pressure through its stop valve, causing fuel to back drain from the rail, The pump was delivering the pressure ok, but after switch off fuel drained away from the motor, especially when it was hot after a 20 minute stop, and starting was hard, with the odd small back fire through the air filter box, and heaps of winding over on the starter, turning the Ign' off and on did nothing to help, so I obtained an inline fuel pump, installed it between the fuel filter, and the engine USING NEW RUBBER HOSE and re routing it to the rail, leaving the origional fuel line where it was and securing it in place just in case I would have to return to using it again, I wired up the pump via a relay, switched in the Ign' bingo.....fuel to the rail, hit the starter Wow...1/2 a turn and away she went, so sweet...I did not realise the problems low fuel pressure causes, untill the motor was running as it should...... Idle, acceleration, starting, engine response, fuel saving, and probably more......The Ford remedy is replacement of the tank unit, sure that would do the trick, but here in the Philippines that unit costs P43.000.00,,, that is more than US $1000.00,, the inline pump was $20 bucks and the job took 1 hour,,has anyone else done this ??

Hello Guys,,,,Any info on a 2001 sportrac 4wd 6 cyl automatic gearbox adjustment would be appreciated, I am hearing strange "clicking" noises from under the car whilst driving at low speed (between 1st and second gears) and,, at first start in the day, it seems to have a slight shudder in moving off, all fluid levels are fine, (electric o/d is not switched off ) 4wd switches in and out ok, and at running speed the truck runs fine with up, and down changing no problems,,,will a gearbox service disclose these symptoms, and is this auto box equipped with adjustable bands ,, thanks mates,,great site.
