Joining the bandwagon, my 4L OHV build

Gert all your sensors and exhaust back in place before driving it around. Calm down, take a deep breath, exhale, and get to it.

Seriously, you re risking severe engine damage troubleshooting this way-and driving with no 02 sensors. You need some back pressure in there for your rings to seat correctly.

Im sure you take that pipe up to big als and there weld it for less than $20.also you need to pull that start and look at it and the flexplate, all in there.maybe a bolt or nut or something in that bellhouse or that starter might be loose or not seating right.but it idles and runs decent now??

jds idea was to put it in the cat cause there wasnt much combined flow room on the y-pipe.
big als said no and sold me the bung. so i go home to take the right side y-pipe off so they can weld it on there, and it wont slide out cause the left side is tight. so i go to unbolt it, stick a socket on top and pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop on the starter cause i didnt unplug the battery cause im mad at big als

so i unplugged the battery now. no idea what got fried. now im pissed
and if i cant get power, im gonn have to put bags on my windows cause i rolled them down
They said no to what?where i said to put it? Tell them to weld the ####n thing in where i said!!!you are paying them!!if they want to put it anywhere else just go somewhere else because they dont know what they are talking about!!...

it WAS running nicely, until the o2 sensor became the least of my worries 30minutes ago.....

and yes, theyr refused to modify a cat and they kept thinking like it was stock and i had a stock y-pipe with headers on a stock engine. so they kept on about it not gonna read right by moving it. or paying then $500 for a new custom y-pipe, 2-in-1 cat with section of straight pipe to have o2 in

i shouldve just kept on driving to the other place that i know would weld it in, which is why i even bought the bung. instead of going home and ####ing more stuff up

They stock location is right in front of the cats just on the other side of the collector.what happened now?i dont think you fried anything or hope not!!

well that shop wanted $85..... he said $75/hr MINIMUM change of 1hr even tho it takes 10min to do. so the weld was $10
another one i talked to before wanted $50...

i had the socket on the y-pipe bolt and the handle hit the starter nut that holds the starter>battery wire. i sure hope nothing fried, i dont want to buy a new starter, battery or anything else at all

anymore recommendations to shops that will do it?

You have the bunge

Wow, your shops out there suck. I brought the mustang in, he had to cut/rotate a pipe to get it to sit right and told me no charge.. I gave them $30 and said buy lunch for the shop. They have done that a few times for me.. Its not like I'm a constant customer. I go in once every 18 months or so..

As for the short fun. Other than "spiking" the electrical system, the only thing I can think of that you may have hurt is the fusable link on the wire between the starter and the solenoid. If there is a fusable link in that line it may be burned by now, but you will know quickly as the starter won't turn over anymore. Other than that, I doubt you did any damage. I've done the same thing a few times working on the exhaust on the explorer and Van..

well, these are very small jdm/ricer type shops. so i guess they need the money since theres only so many ricers out there...

unless the fuse is on the solenoid itself i dont think there is one?
this is the wire i ran from the starter to the solenoid (whole wire isnt shown, but its all solid wire end to end)

jd, yes they sold me the bung. they had no problem with me telling them i want the bung so i can have someone else do it

If you vet it to me by 3 ill do it for free!!bring the cat the O2 and bunge!ill pm u my address

Ps dont drive your truck here!!!

problem fixed! no more o2 code. also if i can tell if thats fixed or not, that means i didnt screw up any wiring and it started :)

all i got was a MAF CEL but its just cause i accidentally unplugged it.
everythings going ok now. i have the cat on, intermediate pipe on and the glasspack on now.
gonna take a spin and record it

its so damn quiet now :(

Your welcome!! I bet it sounds pretty good tho.those rockers quiet down any yet? Still might wanna pull that starter give it a look!

yea it sounds nice. nope, still tapping away, theres only like 10miles on it tho.
i wish i could keep it how it sounded before

after adding the cat, pipe and glasspack i felt more power when hitting the gas. so open y-pipe was really hurting me

with exhaust installed. video sucks tho, bad placement for camera, direct with the wind :/

just to be clear, i accidentally let go of the key the first time, was my fault, not the trucks.

you said nothing over 2k rpms or 3k? i only went to 2k to be safe..

YOU SHOULDNT BE FEELING ANY POWER!!STAY OUT THE GAS FOR A BIT!! Grandma driving for atleast 500!!

Good lord i cant hear anything over that wind and rockers!!they sound even louder!!hate to say it but think i should have added alittle more for the lifters beeing worn and used!! If they dont quite diwn soon i would order some .550s.sounds like they wore down into the old seat marks of the old pushrods! I know not what you wanna hear but some things you just cant predict:(

besides being out another $50(you said they give you 50% back right??), im ok with installing them tho.
but ill wait and see. i dont think they got louder, just the exhaust is so quiet you can hear things now lol

im in the middle of wiring the fan and my cab lights. ill prob finish that today and goto autozone to make some kind of intake so my hood closes
