thanks for the welcome - been checking out the crutchfield site as i want to upgrade my stereo speakers - anyone have the infinity 6822cf speakers in their truck? i have done enough research to confuse the living hell out of me - ugh!!! they look like great speakers but i am worried about the comments about the bass - is it really that soft or are these people expecting it to sound like there is a sub in the vehicle? i am leaning toward the infinity do to the construction of the speaker and of course the reputation of the brand but crutchfield recomends the kicker speaker which i am not real fond of - man i got a bad bad headache - lol - any help would be appreciated!! i did install a kenwood deck unit and that made a big difference in the sound quality - just trying to decide if i should get speakers or just hang on to my money. thanks again!!

well, i think just about anything would be a step up from our factory paper cone speakers. for one, the polypropylene cone should move the bass a little better, and since this is a 2-way speaker (separate woofer/tweeter), your highs should sound good too, i'm not sure about the rotating tweeter.... yeah you can make use of the directionality, but that sounds like it may just be an unnecessary extra... not that it's a bad thing, just unnecessary.

49hz - 21,000hz does seem like the frequency response would be lacking a little in on the bottom end though.... 49hz is kindof borderline where a good solid bass "rumble" might begin.... but it depends on the style of music. unless you listen to a lot of bass-heavy rap, dance, R&B or anything of that nature you probably wont be missing a whole lot musically, and even if you do listen to that stuff, it would still probably be better than the factory speakers. i really havent done a lot of price-to-performance analysis on car speakers so i'm not too sure if this speaker is well priced or not.

in general though you want the frequency response to be
(lowest number possible)hz - (highest number possible)hz
perfect human hearing can only perceive roughly 20hz - 20,000hz so the closer you get to those figures, the better

aklmfreak - thanks for the reply!! they are only 69 a set and i thought that is pretty reasonable - and with free shipping on top of it. the directional tweeter i thought was unnecessary as well but thought it was new technology i hadnt heard of - cant say i have necessarily kept with all the trends - i like to buy something that will last and not worry about it and the physical make up is what has sold me on these. i listen to all sort of stuff - but no real rap to speak of - mainly classic rock/rock/alternative/blues/classical even and a little bit of country (think the lines between country and rock have faded over the years). well i am going to jump back over to the crutchfield site and check the specs on them and will post back what i end up doing and how it turned out

welcome

well i got the infinity reference 6332cf speakers - have a kenwood KDC-MP242 head unit - put the speakers in yesterday and what a difference - the clarity is awesome - first tune i heard was Van Halen/Eruption came on the radio - sounded great - still have some fine tuning to go witht he levels but i am glad i got them - Crutchfiled was great and answered all my questions - only problem is that this could easily become a addiction and just want to upgrade more - thanks for the advice on the selection

nice! what size speakers did you get and did they bolt right in to the factory speaker position?

I got the 6x8 Infinity Reference 6832cf - they bolted right in - was easy as can be - they include a free wire harness adapter so no splicing - connected to factory harness and to stake on connectors for the speaker - put some insulation tape that was included on the back of them and was just a matter of directing the tweeter and deciding the tweeter db rating - ended up going at 0db since i had a lot of trebile adjustment to go through the head unit and figured that would help increase the bass sound. Only bad thing is now it makes me want to get more goodies to go along with it. I really am glad i saw someone on here recomend Crutchfield - top notch on line store in my opinion. Appreciate your input too - helped me make up my mind that this would be a good fit for me - i am no audiophile by any means but do enjoy my tuneage:) thanks again!!

see, now you have me considering upgrading my speakers! did you get a set of 4? from what it sounds like, you seem to have found a really good deal! i'm going to school to be an audio engineer but i'm not obsessive compulsive about EVERYTHING I LISTEN TO having to sound PERFECT. i just appreciate a decent sounding stereo, and i try to find a happy compromise between saving money and improving performance. i wonder how those speakers would sound with a factory head unit.....

yeah - changed out all four - the more i listen to them the more i like them - with some music when i crank it the sound will become distorted but like i said i am still teaking it - they have the infinity speakers at Best Buy - they are the 6822cf model which is basically the same speaker - that is where i listened to them at - only trick is they always seem to have a amp hooked in so i had to turn that off since i do not have one - makes me want one but since i am out of work and looking for a job that will have to wait - thinking after i find work of adding a amp and a sub - and i will definetly get them through the same site

i actually drew up some blueprints for a 2x12 sub box for my X but i just dont have the cargo space in my 2-door Sport. i have to carry all my bass guitar equipment to and from church 3 times a week and a sub box, i think, would be more trouble than the sound quality would justify...

i hear ya - while there is a lot of room in my truck i take my dog everywhere - and i do mean everywhere - lol - have the back totally set up for him - have the one seat up and the 60% side down and memory foam and a comforter - then throw in his toys, water bowl and my car cleaning stuff and i am not to sure where i would put it - was thinking the back tailgate might work and there is room since my rear wiper doesnt work i could pull out the motor but not sure how that would sound and i do not want to be thumping ya know - i just want good sound - but no money means it is just all day dreams at this point - maybe someday
