Wanted to chime in with a quick introduction.

Been twisting wrenches for a long time, have had my 02 Ranger for 4 years and 70K miles.

Just dropped a '96 Explorer 5.0 into it, might not be the cleanest ever V8 conversion but I don't think it looks to butchered up.

Still have some minor cosmetics to address, but looking to solve a couple issues first.

Nice! Looks like a pretty clean install! Did you run into any problems doing the swap?

Other than getting the Explorer catalytic converters to fit the narrower Ranger frame, the only real challenge was working out the wiring for the A/C WOT relay.

The logic and process in controlling the a/c clutch relay is completely different between the Ranger and Explorer. Getting the system to work correctly while making the least amount of changes to the system took a fair amount of time going through the EVTM's for both platforms.

Welcome to this forum! It looks like it came from the factory this way.

Thank you, my intent the entire time was to retain as much OEM appearance and functionality as possible -- did not want either a visual or parts mishmash.
