94 Explorer XLT
I have been a lurker for quite some time now but I finally found this on Craigslist last week, so I called the guy up and we negotiated a deal. It has 63,000 carfax certified miles on it. This thing is CLEAN considering the age. It's the XLT so it has power windows, locks, tilt wheel, ABS, limited slip 3.27 gears. The interior is also very clean as well (as it should with that low of mileage). Overall, I am very pleased with the Explorer. Plans for now are to just drive it the way it is. In a couple years I'll buy another newer SUV then I will mod this one, but until then I will just enjoy it the way that it is. My only complaint about it is that the 4.0 doesn't seem to have much power compared to my 94 Ford Ranger 4.0. It seems pretty sluggish to me unless you put it to the floor.

Beautiful!

Very nice truck. I would love to own another but with a 5spd again. Your gear ratio for one is pretty high and will add to the sluggish feel. Secondly you might want to check the throttle cable for strecthing and make sure its opening the throttle body up all the way.

Can we make an agreement that this thing is NOT allowed to be dirty until it is atleast 18yrs old.

:p: nice find!

Great find!! Enjoy your "new" ride!:chug:

I am definately excited about it. I have a set of Factory Ford 3.73 gears for the D35 and 8.8 that I pulled out of my 94 ranger when I replaced them with 4.56's. I am not going to put them in though, I want to keep it stock for awhile. I also have a Manual 1354 T-case with linkage that will go it if the electric 4x4 starts getting flaky, but right now it works great.

I bought my 2000 Explorer Sport last October with 63k mi, I thought THAT was low mileage for it's age. Most of the explorers I was looking at had a MINIMUM of 120k on them.

Wow, can't remember the last time I saw a tan first gen! Especially one that clean!
Like XLT said, a gear ratio that high will definitely make it feel sluggish. Mine has/had the stock 3.73(5?) ratio and it was just right.

My wife told me that she wanted an SUV with less than 90k miles on it and still be in our budget. I showed her this... it wasn't exactly what she expected, so I told her with the money we saved she could go on a $500 shopping spree and we would still have $$$ left over. The next day the Explorer was in my driveway... compromise does work in marriage... who knew?

She's planning something... For sure... :D

Nice find!!! Yours has the exact same interior as mine, except my exterior's the green color. That's super clean and rust-free too. I thought I had done well finding mine with 104,000. 60K? Wouldn't have thought it possible.

Bravo!

Nice find, It looks very clean!

I'm jealous!

That is one sweet looking ride. Enjoy it and make sure you keep it as clean as it is now. Congrats!!

I have the same exact explorer! Paint job is still awesome and I got 218000 miles on it. Havent had any engine or tranny problems. Ive had to replace the power window motors though( was a pain in the ass!) Also had to replace starter and celenoid. but other than that just regular maintenance and fluids. I will never get rid of it... I wana totally rebuild it eventually so it lasts even longer because nothing is cooler then a older well maintained vehicle.
