Congrats! 97 Mountaineer are the best - and the most unique. They only came with the explorer/mountaineer hybrid front end for 97, and had the powder-coated teardrops.

FYI, From the pic of the engine bay, it looks like yours is an early 1997 V8, (built before April, 1997)with the GT40 non-p heads and internal egr. When you go to order engine parts, tell the guys you have a 1996.

the 5.0 is really a beast, u are gonna be really happy with it mine is a 96 xlt v8 it has 135k and it runs perfect i had a 94 with the v6 and there was a huge difference no way im going back to a v6 lol

Oh i already love it! I love pulling up to people and blowing there doors off. I will get some more pics later today. Yesterday i had a stereo and speakers installed. Sounds sweet!

So what intake can i buy for this? The one i found says it wont work with my style of airbox? Mas?
