Just got me a 1995 Eddie on trade and thought this is the best place to register as a member.

The story behind it all....
I got the vehical as a trade for labor, turned out that the other car I was working on for the trade just needed an oil change. She thought is was the front main leaking on her 4.6 T-bird and when I went over to inspect it to see what I would have to do to replace the front main....It was completly dry with no leak down coming from it. So I followed the oil trail witch led me to the oil filter. I did an oil change on the T-bird and she hasn't had any problems with it since.

The following day...
I called her up to see if she wanted to just give me 20 bucks and call it good, she told me that come tax time she is getting a new vehical and needs the parking space for it. I came up there to pick it up, got a chain on her and towed it home. Title in hand

The problem..
It needs either a tranny or an overhaul kit (5R55E). her husband told me that he was "LOSING" gears until it just wouldnt move. I got it home, dropped the pan and it looked like motor oil... I cant even see a red haze to it. Pulled the trans dip-stik and it has what appears to be little chunks of metal rusted (red color) to it half way up the stik. Looked at the magnet on the pan, regular wear particals (nothing big). I found a new valve body with all brand new selinoids and gasket warrentied for 5 year for 90 bucks on (no 800700trans.com Please if you have any input on this situation it would be helpful, Thanks

Welcome to this forum! I've deleted your other thread since it was identical to this one. You have a 4R55E transmission. You could rebuild the valve body yourself. Check he sticky thread on the top of the transmission section called the 5R55E valve body rebuild diary for more information.

Thanks for the reply, I didnt know whether or not put the post in one or the other. I pulled the valve body and it has (6) selinoids. The pictures on that post also leds me to believe its a 5R and not a 4R. 4R's only have 5 selinoids correct. Are you sure its a 4R55E?

K, thanks much. I will look into getting some info on it.

Would anyone be able to give me any insight on the metal particals on the trans dip-stik halfway up the stik? (its clean and free of particles down where the fluid would be)
