there seems to be a squeeling much the same as when your brakes get low,id normall chalk it up to new pads but its doing it without the brakes on. Im also getting the occasional clunk after a full stop.

none of this was present before so Im trying to figure out what may be the cause

thanks guys

did you change the brakes?
If it was at a shop take it back.

could be as simple as the plate (sheild) in the back rubbing on the rotor, possible to bend it accidentally.
If the caliper wasn't properly mounted - could be a major problem, and shifted now, and is rubbing.
could be the shims behind the pads - did you but that brake grease stuff on them?
could be the metal spacer thin between the pads (in the caliper) got bent/improperly installed.

good luck

nah my father in law did it,he is a mechanic, but did this for the cost of parts so I cant complain. he is just super busy so I thought id see if you guys had some ideas and id go from there. guess ill yank the tires and take a look tomorrow.

Could be the brake pad shims rubbing on the rotors or the brake caliper sliders weren't taken apart, cleaned and regreased which isn't allowing the calipers to move freely.

I should have said that he did both calipers aswell, thats why the brakes needed done to begin with, the calipers seized, apparently there was quite a bit of sand in there

Ok, when you check out the brakes tomorrow before you take the wheels off look through the holes in the wheels and see if you can see the clips up against the rotors.

yup it was the clips on the front drivers side that are touching, havent fixed it yet ,need to borrow a buddies big channel locks or c clamp to compress the caliper when I put it back together.

still doesnt explain the clunk,I checked those links out and bushings all seem fine,cv joint all appear in really good shape, same with body mounts

squeaking is gone, clunk is still there, any ideas guys, its clearly something that isnt obviously visible

You said in a previous post that, the clunk is after the full stop.
Doesn't that mean something shifts in the truck due to change in momentum. i.e. a jack that isn't bolted down or something.

its in the front end,i feel it in the pedals which makes me think its something upfront

I'd probably look at suspension components then - the stuff the spindle bolts to.
- ball joints upper/lower
- bushings
- steering stuff also (tierod ends)

^^^^
I'm just guessing

it showed itself today after about 300kms since the brakes job when the bolt finally backed out and the calipers started bouncing off the inside of my rim.its fixed now

Pickupman was it a deep knock kinda clunk that happened when you stopped and did it do it when you turned some too? mine is doing this now.

that's good you found the problem.

Did you bed the brakes after the install?
just wondering....
