Howdy, y'all. OBD II scanner sez that active grille shutter (AGS) isn't working. Don't have the code handy but I'll get it and update this thread. I can stick my hand through the grill and move the slats but they're always closed. AC isn't working correctly without proper airflow. Taped the AGS open with duct tape but tape stretches when hot. I've though of a length of 1.25" square plastic pipe jammed between the slats but that probably won't help re$ale value (thinking of trading it primarily because of Duratec 35 internal coolant pump liability; that's for another post). Dorman 601-322 replacement assembly includes stepper-motor actuator for <$400 online but local shop wants ~$700 for the part including their markup, and ~$500 for labor. Don't see another option and She won't let me work on it as it's Her daily driver. What's your experience? Kind regards and thanks.

Tell the shop you'll pay their labor to install your part. They'll nag you that there will be no part warranty, but tell them that's OK - the part is warranted by Dorman.

Welcome to the Forum.
The quality of Dorman products seems to be hit or miss, according to some reviews.
Here is the OEM item from Levittown Ford, a site vendor that also offers members a discount.
BTW, there is already a thread on this subject; Active Grille Shutters stuck closed
