Actually just purchased a 2002 xlt with a slip in trans between 3rd and 4th. Bought it because it has been oil sprayed yearly and is basically rust free and the body looks good and the interior is excellent. This will go to the family farm and will get a work out when the driveway gets snowed in. Hopefully the low purchase price will accommodate the trans work and misc. repairs and tires it will need. From the research I have done it looks like this site really works to assist its participants and I will need that and hopefully contribute as well. Hoping this motor will not have valve timing chain issues. I could not hear the chain but seems like the chain is more shrouded on the 02 models than prior ones where you could actually see one thru the filler plug hole.
Good news is you won't be doing the driveway in 3rd or 4th gear!
