I've read all the threads i can find related to the swap and can readily find information on the parts and their corresponding part numbers if ever i do get to do this myself.

But, i still need to justify if it would be worth my while.

In my case, my truck is a 97 V8 AWD and currently is my daily driver with very minimal off-highway use except for going to camp sites and hiking trails and maybe to big bear :D

We do not get snow in my area of the woods (or lack thereof) so street driving is just either dry or a few scattered rain showers.

My main concern right now is gaining every MPG i can out of this old truck. I do about 50/50 highway and city driving. I also sold my BFG T/A KO's (which rode like bricks) and went back to stock sized LTX m/s.

So,

-will i gain some MPG if I swap out my AWD transfer case to a 4406?

-and what is the issue with the swap eating up transmission mounts? Heck, i dont even know how to check the condition of mine right now. :(

TIA!
