I thought that this would be help full for Gas milage, power, and overall engine running. But is it worth $40? i'm not sure about these...

just the drop in K&N's alone? Doubt it, MAYBE if u drill the box but still. The best thing would be to get either a KKM, MAC, or FULL K&N set up. Other wise I wouldnt go with a k&n drop in

yes it is worth it.
You never have to change the air filter again.
Start saving money there.

As far as MPG and performance, any improvment will be marginal at best.

Thank you for your advice, sounds like a good deal

but if u are looking for power, gas milege...look into a KKM setup

KKM? can u give me a link or somthing?

Thank's, I'll look into that

KKM is good for sure, but remember it is ONLY a conical filter and a MAF adapter, whereas the Mac and K & N are complete air intakes.

From what I read you dont need the complete air intakes. The stock tube already outflows the throttle body by 3 times so why buy a new tube?

I had the K&N in my old Ranger. It looked nice, sounded nice and felt like it improved the throttle response. The only drawback I saw was the price and how much dirt was getting in the engine ..... my plenum was filthy.
On my Sport I just opened the front lower portion of the stock air filter box (cost me about an hour). The small cone that was there was about 3.9 sq inches. I opened it up to 27 sq inches and installed a TrueFlow filter. Supposedly this filter traps more dirt from entering the engine without sacrificing the air flow. It's just something to consider !

I have used the KKM for years and have NEVER had an even slightly abnormal UOA ( to indicate a bad air filter ).

Did you do a UOA on yours?

No Al I can't say I've done any technical testing or analysis besides the obvious. My plenum would get dirty with a stock paper filter and I would clean it occasionally with a sensor safe intake cleaner (usually right before an oil change). When I had the K&N installed I'd "guesstimate" that it was about twice as dirty. Don't get me wrong the intake will get dirty but this was considerably more. It would only make sense that if the cotton/gauze filter is increasing the amount air flow it's also going to increase , to a point, the amount of dirt entering the system. As I said this isn't based on any analysis but just my observations of the condition of my air intake. I apologize if I was misleading in my experience with the filter.

On another note I'll get the second chart and pic to you tomorrow night !!
