I want to add some power, but dont want to spend too much money. I noticed on the product reviews both K&N Filter charger and KKM True rev sounded like they were good options. Are these just two different brands of the same product or does a filter charger actually "push" air into the intake?

Welcome!

They're basically the same thing, but by 2 different manufacturers. The reason the KN is much more is that it is emissions certified. KN generation 2 kits also come with a new intake tube, but this isn't necessary. I say get the KKM for cheaper. If you're worried about emissions inspection, just order a KN sticker and put it on your KKM ;) This works for many members.

Also:

Pushing air into the motor is called forced induction. There are only a few mods that can do this. True forced induction is via a supercharger or turbocharger. Ram air via a hood scoop or similar can also push air into the engine, but no where near the amount a blower can. Also, some specially designed intake manifolds can actually create boost pressure at certain RPMs.

I used the K&N filter, I like the KKM though. I seen the tru-rev after I had already got the K&N. It made a difference with both the response and sound of the motor. Both positive.

Just make sure that after the recommended miles to clean the filter with the kit. Clean it twice especially since the catch alot of debris. I get alot of dirt in mine so I may have only gone around 10-12k when i cleaned.

;)

I too liked the KKM but already had a K&N filter installed. Rather than spend the money I simply took the air box out and used a hole saw on the bottom section of it.

The result was a swiss cheese air box and noticable air flow improvement... now if i could just fix the dorn ping problem i would be happy :(
