Well, I was workin on getting my remote start alarm installed and everything was going well. I decided to try to start the ex up and came to a sudden halt. Before you ask, YES the car is in park. Car is in park and I stick the key in, key slides in easily as normal. Now, I try to turn the key, but it's EXTREMELY difficult to do. I can barely turn the key. It goes all the way down to where it SHOULD start the car, but the car doesn't turn over. I turn the key back to the OFF position and try to pull the key out, but it doesn't want to come out!! Whats the deal here? I can't get the car to start and now I can't even get the damn key out?!?!? Any help??

Hmm.. Try turning the steering wheel back and forth while you turn the key.

I've tried that too...:( I've tried twisting, turning, pulling, tugging.. All to no availe..Anyone else wanna try something?

So, in your install, do you have wires and the module and such stuffed up under the dash around the steering column?

UPDATE

Well, I got the cylinder out of the car and the key comes out of the cylinder.. Now when I put the cylinder back in and stick the key in, it still is incredibly hard to turn and the keys still gets stuck.. Any ideas on what this could be now???

Explorer's have had problems with their ignition switches. I'm guessing yours may be on the list. Often the dealer is ignorant on these issues, but locksmith's aren't ! Check with your dealer, there have been a couple recalls on switches. (altho mostly older than yours I think). HTH, some.

Happy Exploring

It's not just a X problem, it's an Ford truck problem. If you take it to a good automobile locksmith when he pulls the cylinder you'll see the broken piece. It's what activates the chime. The piece is made of cheap spring steel and plastic and over time they just break. I've seen it in everything from a '85 F150 and a '93 Crown Vic. So you should have that checked out.
